TCR Europe at Monza – 2019 Final Race

The final race of the season together with Stian Paulsen Racing. Going into this weekend we had really high expectations for some good results. The track should suit us in several ways. We had a the BoP working for us. We had done our homework in terms of aerodynamics with an extensive straight line test that enabled us to map the cars aero performance. That meant that we knew exactly how to set up the car in terms of front and rear ride heights and rear wing angle, plus a number of other aero features, both for minimizing lap time and maximizing top speed. In addition to this we had a really good situation regarding tire status and also very important, Stian Paulsen has visited the track several times before and shown good performance

It was therefore supprising and dissapointing to experience the worst weekend of the year. We struggled all weekend with being competitive and the progress over the weekend was also hindered by a suspension failure in free practice that cost us valuable testing time. Race 1 was ok in terms of performance and we managed to gain a lot of positions but in race 2 the speed was not really there any longer. A lot of knowledge gained for the future but also a lot of questionmarks that needs answering during the off season.
